Sandra Effron
President
Sandra believes that community service can have a meaningful and positive long-term effect on people's lives. In her 20s, she moved to New York City and volunteered with New York Cares and the Leukemia Society of New York, seeing a need for help in those areas. When her oldest child started kindergarten, she volunteered with their school’s community service program, Columbia Cares. After just one school year, she became Co-President of the program and continued running it for the next eight years. Sandra began studying Spanish several years ago and became passionate about the language.
Sandra graduated Magna Cum Laude from Amherst College with a BA in psychology, spent a year studying at the London School of Economics, and earned a certificate from the New York School of Interior Design. She is married and is the proud mother of Sabrina Effron, Vice President of Speak English Together, and Jimmy Effron who also helped to establish this organization in 2021.
